Boomerang Bags are shopping bags provided free to help the community stop using plastic shopping bags. Boomerang Bag Community Volunteers sew the bags from suitable, clean, donated fabric.

The Cardiff Area Sustainable Neighbourhood Group (CASNG) has organised a Sewing Workshop to help Lake Macquarie Boomerang Bags start making bags for use in Lake Mac Communities.

If you’d like to become a Boomerang Bag Sewing Volunteer, have 3 spare hours on Sunday 4th June, and have your own sewing machine & thread, then register for this event.

Register at Eventbrite – – or go to and search for our workshop.

To get to the hall on the day, enter the school car park off Wansbeck Valley Rd, Cardiff and a CASNG volunteer will help you carry your sewing machine to the Hall – and back again later. Please make sure that any electrical cables you bring (including machine cables) are in good condition – or you may not be allowed to use them.
