Details about the masks and pattern

This mask pattern has been made after reviewing relevant literature and consulting  medical practitioners. While not as effective as medical masks, cotton fabric has been demonstrated to reduce the transmission of microorganisms, and with correct fit and use, cloth masks can be effective in offering some protection to droplet transmission from coughing and sneezing. There are links to relevant research articles here.

Cloth masks are NOT designed for frontline medical staff, for people with COVID-19, or for people looking after people with COVID-19. We recognise there is a current world-wide shortage of medical grade masks, and hope these re-usable ones can reduce some of the demand for medical ones, by providing people not working in hospitals with an alternative.
